1820 · The congregation
Christ Church was organized in 1820 and is the oldest Episcopal congregation in Mississippi. Its story is part of the history of Church Hill and the wider Episcopal community in the state.
1857–1858 · The church
The present church was built in the Gothic Revival style. Its steep roof, pointed arches, and stained-glass windows give the sanctuary its distinctive character.
The building remains a setting for prayer and community, not only a place to remember the past.
2026 · Preservation recognized
The Mississippi Heritage Trust recognized Christ Church with an Award of Merit for Rehabilitation in its 2026 Heritage Awards.
The recognition includes the sanctuary's historic paint scheme, roof and stained-glass work, building systems, and care of the surrounding graveyard.
